Thank you for your interest in the Sioux City Chamber Music Young Artist Solo Competition.   See below for details or continue to the registration button to enter.   If you are unable to audition in person we can arrange a digital audition but all those chosen for the final round will be required to participate in the final concert April 27, 2025.

The Sioux City Chamber Music Young Artist Solo is open to all students currently enrolled in grades 6-12. Eligible students should submit the registration form on this webpage.  Last year's winners are not eligible to compete this year unless performing on a different instrument.  Previous winners can also enter again if a year has gone by and they are entering in a different age division.  Participation is limited to those who live within 50 miles of Sioux City.  

Registration Deadline is March 28, 2025.  The preliminary audition round will be April 6, 2025.  Both events will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 608 Nebraska St, Sioux City. The applicant must provide their own accompanist and a judges copy of their solo.  Those unable to audition in person may submit an audition video via Dropbox.

Those who pass the preliminary audition round will perform in the finals round April 27, 2025 at the Sioux City Chamber Music Concert.  The number of winners will be selected based on the number of participants in each age group.  The top prize award will be $500. 

Repertoire for both instrumental and vocal selections should come from standard instrumental and classical repertoire such as what would be used at middle and high school solo contests. 

We realize that new repertoire is constantly being written. However, with many contests being allowed such a wide range of styles, we would ask that musical theater selections for voice should be cleared in advance for appropriateness for this particular competition.  

Repertoire must be performed with a single instrument accompaniment except if written specifically for solo instrument.  In the case there are long accompaniment solos please make appropriate cuts to allow an accommodating, suitable performance time.

To register, please click the registration tab and complete the form.  A $15 registration fee must be paid before your audition. The registration fee may be mailed to the address listed on the Contacts tab or brought to the audition. Please include the auditioner's name with the payment to ensure proper credit.   

Auditioners need to provide copies of their selection for the judges.  Two copies will be enough but three copies is preferred.
